How to get started and maintain a powerful ZTNA architecture
At OpenVPN, we’re continually improving and enhancing our products, and responding to customer feedback is integral to that process. That’s why we’re proud to introduce three extended Cyber Shield Traffic Filtering categories in direct response to CloudConnexa customer requests for even more robust filtering control.
What Is It?
A number of customers requested that we add support for the detection and blocking of Tor in our built-in IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention). Tor, short for The Onion Router, directs internet traffic through a free, worldwide, volunteer overlay network to conceal a user's location and usage. It can be used for both licit and illicit purposes.
We have now added support for detection and blocking of traffic that matches the signature of Tor traffic to Cyber Shield Traffic Filtering.
To further extend protection against threats, we have also added support to detect and block traffic associated with Adware and Cryptojacking.

Why Does It Matter?
These additions fulfill specific customer requests and unlock more value for customers that use our built-in IDS/IPS. We’re happy to offer solutions that are as flexible and customizable as our users’ needs.
Note that only the traffic that passes through the Wide-area Private Cloud (WPC) is monitored and blocked. This means that your team has to be logged on to OpenVPN Cloud in order for their traffic to be monitored/blocked. Your internet access settings will determine what traffic passes through the WPC.
With OpenVPN Cloud, each customer has a virtually dedicated worldwide private network exclusively for their use. There are several key benefits to the WPC:
- Worldwide points of presence.
- A private overlay network over the internet that isolates the network and dedicates it to just your traffic.
- A virtualized secure network that provides the best of VPN and ZTNA security.
