OpenVPN Joins MSP OneShare as a Preferred Partner

4:04

By Adam Bullock

## OpenVPN is now a Preferred Partner of [MSP OneShare-IBPI](https://ibpi.net/msponeshare), the member-owned community for managed service providers.

For MSPs in the community, that means a direct path to OpenVPN's Zero Trust and secure connectivity solutions, built for the small and midsize businesses they serve.

We joined because MSPs are where SMB security gets delivered to many organizations. When a 40-person accounting firm or a regional clinic needs secure remote access, they don't call a vendor. They call their MSP. We want those MSPs to have tools that are strong, simple to deploy, and easy to scale across dozens of clients. And we wanted more to learn about our strong [partner program](https://openvpn.net/partners/).

## Secure connectivity is now a core MSP service

A few years ago, secure access meant a VPN for a handful of remote workers. Today it covers hybrid teams, cloud apps, branch sites, and contractors who need access to one system and nothing else. Clients expect their MSP to handle all of it.

That shift is why Zero Trust has moved from an enterprise buzzword to a practical requirement for SMBs. The principle is simple: verify every user and device, and grant access only to the specific resources they need. The challenge for MSPs is delivering that across many clients without drowning in configuration and overhead.

Lynn Williams, Director of MSP Partnerships & Programs at MSP OneShare-IBPI, put it well:

"Secure connectivity continues to be an important part of the services MSPs are being asked to provide, and OpenVPN brings a strong solution and channel-focused approach to our community."

## What this means for MSP OneShare members

Through the partnership, MSP OneShare and IBPI members get an additional resource for meeting their clients' secure connectivity needs:

- Zero Trust access for clients. Give users reliable access to the applications, resources, and networks they need, and nothing more.
- Secure connectivity that scales. Protect remote workers, sites, and cloud resources across a growing client base.
- A channel-focused partner. Work with a vendor that builds its programs around how MSPs actually sell and support security.
- A new service to offer. Expand your security portfolio with a proven technology your clients can grow into.

As Lynn noted, the goal of the Preferred Partner portfolio is to give members *"access to proven technologies that can help them strengthen their offerings, serve their customers and grow their businesses."*

## Enterprise-grade security, without the enterprise overhead

OpenVPN is an SMB-focused vendor, and that shapes everything about how we work with MSPs. Traditional enterprise security tools often come with complex deployments, heavy licensing, and management overhead that doesn't fit a 25-seat client. MSPs need the same protection with a footprint that matches the customer.

*"We are eager and excited to join MSP OneShare as a Preferred Partner, bringing OpenVPN's Zero Trust and secure connectivity solutions to this fast growing IT community. As an SMB-focused vendor in the channel community, partnering with MSP OneShare – IBPI will allow us to provide MSPs with powerful, scalable security capabilities without the complexity or overhead of traditional enterprise solutions." - Nick Finnegan, Global Partner Development Manager, OpenVPN*

We're in this for the long term. Our aim is a high-impact partnership that keeps delivering value and growth for the whole MSP OneShare community.

## About MSP OneShare, and how to get started

MSP OneShare is the first MSP community owned by its members. Backed by IBPI, it charges no annual membership fees and gives members access to vendor partnerships, rebates, peer collaboration, education, and business growth programs. OpenVPN's addition expands its Preferred Partner portfolio and reflects the community's focus on technologies that meet the changing needs of managed services.
