Strengthening security with compliance monitoring.
At OpenVPN, we’re always working to improve our products and elevate our customers’ experience. We are excited to announce the Beta availability of Device Posture for CloudConnexa. This feature adds an extra layer of security to your network by ensuring that only devices meeting your organization’s security and compliance standards can access your CloudConnexa Wide-area Private Cloud (WPC). With Device Posture, IT administrators can define specific rules based on the device’s attributes, creating a more secure and compliant network environment.

What is Device Posture for CloudConnexa?
Device Posture refers to the security and compliance status of a device within a network. CloudConnexa’s new Device Posture feature allows administrators to define and enforce custom rules — also known as Device Posture Policies — based on a wide range of device attributes.
During the connection attempt and periodically after, CloudConnexa will determine whether a device can safely connect and stay connected based on configured device posture policies.
You can configure your policies to accept or reject devices based on the operating system and its version, the presence of one of several eligible antivirus software, whether the client certificate (Windows OS only) matches the one in your policy, and whether the device’s disk is encrypted.
In addition, you can customize Device Posture policy per User Group.
NOTE: Only one policy can be assigned to a user group at any given time.
Devices that don’t meet your predefined requirements can be automatically blocked from accessing the network, making it easier to manage security standards across a wide range of devices.
If your business follows a zero trust network access (ZTNA) model, the Device Posture feature is an excellent complement to your zero trust approach.
Why does Device Posture matter?
As the number of devices accessing your network increases, so does the potential for security vulnerabilities. Perhaps you’ve witnessed — or had to manage — incidents involving malware infections. Or maybe you operate in a heavily regulated industry such as finance or healthcare.
With the introduction of Device Posture, we aim to help you minimize stress and make the most of your team’s time and resources. Device Posture helps reduce the risk of noncompliant or insecure devices accessing sensitive data or resources by:
- Enforcing compliance: Automatically block devices that don’t meet your security policies, reducing exposure to vulnerabilities.
- Upholding internal standards: Ensure that all devices accessing your network meet your organization's security requirements, such as running an approved antivirus or using encrypted disks.
- Proactively managing risks: Address potential security issues before they cause problems, reducing downtime and minimizing IT workload through automated compliance checks.
By implementing Device Posture, your organization can maintain a high level of security without needing to manually monitor every device, ensuring that only trusted devices connect to your CloudConnexa WPC.
